Forum on Sustainable Manufacturing:
Products, Processes, and Systems
August 7, 2009
Presented by the University of Kentucky
Sustainable development is no longer a choice but a necessity that must be followed at individual, enterprise, national and international levels. Manufacturing being one of the major drivers of development, it is then imperative that innovative sustainable manufacturing practices are developed and implemented to ensure economic growth is achieved while ensuring environmental protection and societal well-being. The Sustainable Manufacturing Research Group at the University of Kentucky, together with the Center for Manufacturing and College of Engineering is organizing a ‘Forum on Sustainable Manufacturing: Products, Processes and Systems’. This event is organized to precede the First International Congress in Sustainable Manufacturing (ICOSSE) to be held in Cincinnati, OH from August 9-12, 2009 and will bring together a group of nationally & internationally renowned experts in sustainable products, processes and systems (supply chains) from academia and industry. The event will include short presentations by the invited speakers and two panel discussions
UK Sustainable Manufacturing Research in the News
Dusan P. Sekulic Ph.D. along with researchers from MIT have published a study in Environmental Science & Technology. The study brings to light how inefficient modern manufacturing processes can be. Dr. Sekulic answered questions regarding the study for Scitizen, a French based source for scientific news around the world.
