New Product Development Commercialization Center For Rural Manufacturers

The New Product Development and Commercialization Center will connect small rural manufacturers with university-based research teams to test, develop, and commercialize new products. New manufacturing product development is an economic development strategy that contributes to a diversified rural economy and helps rural communities remain economically sustainable.

The Center project will:

  • Solicit proposals from rural manufacturers with new product ideas
  • Develop new products
  • Plan and analyze the steps needed to make the new product commercially viable
  • Connect rural manufacturers with the local business community
  • Assist in market analysis and strategic planning
  • Encourage entrepreneurship
  • Help retain manufacturers in rural areas
  • Help retain and create jobs
  • Help to create the elements of a manufacturing cluster
