The New Product Development and Commercialization Center will connect small rural manufacturers with university-based research teams to test, develop, and commercialize new products. New manufacturing product development is an economic development strategy that contributes to a diversified rural economy and helps rural communities remain economically sustainable.
The Center project will:
Solicit proposals from rural manufacturers with new product ideas
Develop new products
Plan and analyze the steps needed to make the new product commercially viable
Connect rural manufacturers with the local business community
Assist in market analysis and strategic planning
Encourage entrepreneurship
Help retain manufacturers in rural areas
Help retain and create jobs
Help to create the elements of a manufacturing cluster
