UK Lean Manufacturing Simulation: One Day Format
The UK Lean Manufacturing Simulation is a powerful, one-day, intense experience designed to provide an awareness of lean principals and their effect on production processes. As a participant you'll work on a simulated factory floor and produce a product that will be shipped to a customer. You begin by using traditional manufacturing processes and progress through the implementation of lean manufacturing. This is a unique hands-on exercise that provides you with more than knowledge from a lecture. You will be able to see, feel, and measure the results as lean manufacturing principals are incorporated. These principals include continuous improvement, visual control, built in quality at the source of the work, just in time, pull system, and teamwork.
The simulation is designed for a group of 33 participants but can vary slightly up or down from that number. Arrangements can be made to bring the equipment and team to your site or you can choose to bring your group to the Lexington campus.
Through participation in this simulation you will be able to:
- Understand Flow
- Differentiate between push and pull systems
- List 8 wastes to be reduced or eliminated in becoming lean
- Explain how the 8 wastes reduce profit
- Explain the Kaizen process
- Understand how a Kanban works
Expanded Two Day Format
The factory floor is only one part of an enterprise lean system. The rest of the system includes management philosophies, leadership, culture change, and a new way of thinking that engages people and teams as essential parts of the complete lean system. A second day can be added to the UK Lean Manufacturing Simulation to provide an awareness of the complete Lean System and how it works. |
