The University of Kentucky conducts this week-long institute twice per year to highlight, for business executives, the value of applying lean principles in their organizations. The Institute provides opportunities to:
Explore the foundations of the highly successful Toyota Production System by participating in:
- Discussions
- Simulations
- Interactive Exercises
Discover practical insights into utilizing Lean’s guiding principles to lead a successful transformation of your organization.
Key topics will include:
- The pillars of a lean business philosophy
- The competitive strength of learning organizations
- Lean system operations
- Management structure and measurement systems that support and sustain an ongoing lean transformation
Activities are led by our experienced faculty and Toyota executives. Selected guest speakers will present case studies. Benchmarking tours of local operations, including Toyota’s Georgetown, Kentucky facility, will provide opportunities to “go and see” different organizations putting lean principles into action.
Upon completion of the Lean Executive Leadership Institute, the participant will be able to:
- Describe the philosophy, principles, and practices of a lean enterprise
- Explain operating principles of a lean system
- Compare and contrast lean versus traditional leadership practices
- Identify lean versus traditional performance measurement
- Design and deploy a lean transformation strategy

Fees - The current fee for the institute, meals, and all events is $5,000 (U.S. dollars only). For three or more participants, a quantity discount fee of $4,700 per person is available.
