Lean Transformation Partnership Program

Developing World Class Performance in Lean Enterprise and Just-in-time Logistics

Our Methodologies:
First, we listen. Only after we fully understand your business & problems, do we assist you in developing a practical transformation path toward continuous improvement in every dimension of your company’s business operations and culture.

Next, we prove the value of lean principles through comprehensive and effective assessment, coaching, training, learning process facilitation, in-plant engineering, and lean value demonstrations.

We then assist you in progressing along your transformation path by providing professional lean enterprise training and practical, hands-on shop floor implementation assistance. Our help takes the form of both shop floor operations kaizen and plant wide value stream flow improvement kaizen.

Our support role ends at each progressive phase when enough knowledge has passed through our coaching to allow you to internally complete the task of integrating lean principles into every aspect of your company’s business operations.

UK's Lean Transformation Support:
Building on our successful transformation experience, we have developed a time & progress based strategy of coaching and introducing Toyota’s principles for an efficient lean enterprise. In a nut shell, we encourage and help organizations to:
Assess their strengths & weaknesses, then develop a feasible business and implementation plan to transform to lean culture and just-in-time operating principles
Identify a strong influential internal change agent to shepherd a knowledgeable transformation support team
Design a lean learning program which will escalate as the breadth and depth of the transformation progresses
Target transformation and improvement actions along Toyota’s recommended path toward the defined lean future state by defining short term goals, then encouraging immediate and continuous improvement

As described above, the approach we coach is, first to create an organizational culture which encourages lean transformation. This culture must ensure that lean principles are inculcated through an aggressive, consistent, and long term program of continuous learning, continuous improvement, and flow and operational process kaizen.

The University of Kentucky offers a complete array of learning and action vehicles targeted for every level of an organization during every phase of their lean transformation. As lean knowledge grows throughout a transforming organization, UK is prepared to serve as an effective coach and facilitator to help overcome obstacles and organize change. Our objective, at each successive stage, is always to increase the level of capability within a transforming organization to the point where we are no longer needed for them to reach their lean transformation goals.
