1977 Fellow Member. The Institution of Metallurgists.
Awarded by virtue of academic qualifications, and professional training and experience.

1989 Frederick W. Taylor Research Medal. Society of Manufacturing Engineers. This is one of seven categories of International Honor Awards presented annually by SME. There is a maximum of one award presented in each category in any given year. It was presented in recognition of research successes in improving manufacturing processes.

1991 Westinghouse Science and Technology Center Outstanding Innovation Award.
One of eight awards presented for most innovative patents issued in 1990. Presented for US Patent No. 4,927,985 "Cryogenic Conductor."

1992 Fellow Member. Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Awarded in recognition of outstanding service to the manufacturing profession. Usually no more than ten members are so honored in any given year.

1997 Honorary Consultant Professor, Harbin Institute of Technology, Harbin, China.
Presented for expertise in materials processing.

1999 Life Member. Society of Manufacturing Engineers.
Awarded after serving two years as International President of the Society. Usually only awarded to outgoing presidents of the Society.

2001 Fellow Member. ASM International.
Presented in recognition of distinguished contributions to the field of materials science and materials engineering.
