Design and Manufacturing of Heat Exchangers

The R&D program devoted to design and manufacturing of heat exchangers is a unique program in an academic institution devoted to a synergy between:

(1) Fundamentals of Related Transport Processes,

(2) Thermal Design Theory, and

(3) Manufacturing for Design of Heat Exchangers.

Modern designs impose very tight requirements on manufacturing, in particular for thermal devices such as compact heat exchangers. Selection of materials, demanding heat transfer augmentation requirements, reduction in weight and increased compactness are the most prominent issues that challenge manufacturability of these devices. Understanding and control of related heat transfer issues have been ahead of required manufacturing improvements. This program offers an expertise in both areas (thermal design and manufacturing of compact heat exchangers) involving disciplines of thermal engineering, materials science and advanced manufacturing.
